About Me

My name is Tez Lately, and I am a local DJ, born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. I have been DJing for about 7 years. My story started out with me having the aux cord for a college house party and then being asked why I don’t actually DJ?! From there, I took my college laptop, purchased my first controller and set of speakers, and practiced in my mom’s kitchen, which led to my first paid gig.

What began as a passion slowly turned into a craft. I started learning from several mentors — understanding transitions, reading the room, and knowing exactly when to drop the right song. Over time, that passion evolved into performing for larger crowds, where I discovered the real magic of DJing: watching a room full of people connect through music.

Something that sets me apart from others is interacting with the crowd. No, not on the microphone, but on the dance floor as I leave the booth to lead a line dance, or to each one, or to just dance in general, being able to enjoy the music with the crowd sets me apart! I love music just like you do! Music has the power to turn a regular night into a memory, and that’s what I strive to do every time I step behind the booth.

Today, DJing isn’t just something I do — it’s part of who I am. Every set is a chance to tell a story through sound, build a vibe, and give people a night they won’t forget.
